UPDATES

November 11th | Our Progress | Ukraine

We first wanted to apologize for not posting our updates these last few stressful months. As we started our fundraising efforts supporting the people in need within Nova Kahovka (Kakhovka) Ukraine we were able to stay focused as most all systems (farms, stores and the people in the city) were operating fairly regularly. We of course ran into logistical issues as the city is occupied by Russian forces but we found a workable day to day to keep delivering and pushing forward.   The night after our last Traditional Ukrainian Food Tasting Event at Pub 97 on July 11th the situation in Nova Kahovka got worse. The conflict was reaching the city in a very dangerous way. Ukrainian armed forces started to interrupt Russian logistics and hitting their ammunition depots. Some of them located close to open markets right in the middle of the city and of course caused a lot

Our Ukrainian Progress | June 20th

A successful June 12th Tasting Event After many days of Nadiia’s food preparation and a lot of last minute setups we successfully accomplished our second tasting event at the Custom House Museum in Newburyport. The best news from the event was we just about ran out of food.  Nadiia was very flattered to see so many people enjoying her cooking.  We welcome any feedback of the food, our presentation or ideas on another tasting event.  Without your continued support none of this would be possible. We also wanted to thank everyone who could attend our Authentic Ukrainian Food Tasting Event and Dan Healey for his continued dollar for dollar match to our fundraising efforts.  Previous Next With the generosity of Terry & Bernadine Clifford we will be hosting our third Authentic Ukrainian Food Tasting Event at their restaurant Pub 97 on July 10th in Groveland. We want to apologize for the delay in our progress updates.  We have been busy working on many different fundraising ideas, our next Authentic Ukrainian Food Tasting Event, new menu ideas, Verenyky donation pickups, floral crowns, our application for Non-profit status, GoFundMe and new ways to reach more people in creating awareness of our efforts. Each day we push harder because we know their are people in Ukraine, just like you and me, that are scared and worried right now about their safety and next meal. This reality that millions of Ukrainians are going though is unimaginable, especially in the 21st century, which is why we all do our part.  With your donations we are now providing deliveries of food and essentials to over 3000 people every week. We truly thank you so much for your on-going support.   We are now delivering food and essentials to over 3000 people in

A successful first Tasting Event We first wanted to give a huge thank you to over 40 people who could attend to our first Ukrainian Tasting Event on April 30th. Without your support we would not feel so empowered to keep raising money to help people in Ukraine each and every day.  With your support, both to those who could attend, and those who couldn’t we raised over $4000.  This is truly inspiring and which is why we are already planning another one. Fingers crossed as we look for a larger venue. Side note: For those of you who were able to attend our event and took photos or video if you could share with us that would be great. 4 Days to our Authentic Ukrainian Food Tasting Event We have a handful openings still available to attend our Authentic Ukrainian Food Tasting Event on April 30th  2pm – 4pm. RSVP here.  Even if you only have an hour we hope more of you can attend to join us for a traditional food experience. In the first week we have seen an amazing interest and we hope to see more of you. Weather is looking good too!  Our Progress | April 26th 2022 We are continuing to see a steady flow of people fleeing Nova Kahovka. Travel like this is only possible for people strong enough to be able to endure this over 2 day trip to Poland and now toward Odessa, Ukraine to Romania.  This is very risky trip as the Russian military have been randomly blocking roads forcing people north instead to neighboring cities and villages to spend

Our Progress | April 14th, 2022

As we continue to expand our efforts to reach more people willing to help we want to remind those who may not be familiar with our cause and our background. Nadiia was born and grew up in Nova Kahovka, Ukraine. After their 2 year of dedication and determination through the US K1 Visa process Jarred and Nadiia, in 2018, were able to finally marry on St Pete Beach FL and now living on Plum Island, Newburyport MA where they happily call home. Nadiia’s ties to Ukraine remain strong as her parents, sister and her sister’s family as well as her friends and their families all live in Ukraine. Watching the Russian invasion and subsequent devastation that began on February 24th, 2022 is heartbreaking. Nova Kahovka was one of the first major cities in the southeast of Ukraine the Russian military occupied on day 1 of the war.  Both Nadiia and

Our Progress | April 5th, 2022

I first wanted to apologize for our delayed update. We have been working on a few other fundraising ideas including an Authentic Ukrainian fundraising dinner as well as hand-made Ukrainian food you can take-home to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who had time to answer our survey. Both ideas offer an amazing opportunity for people who have not been able to visit Ukraine to experience this cultural menu firsthand. We are working out the details and will send out an update soon. We have been creating 18×24 Ukrainian yard signs that we will be giving out to anyone who wants to show their support to not only Ukraine but our cause. We should be receiving 100 new yard signs next week. Over the past few weeks we have been working with a local 18 year old Ukrainian from Nova Kahovka, an aspiring photographer, to help us with the imagery in

I wanted to take a minute to re-introduce our efforts to the readers who may not have been following our fundraising efforts. With the support of not only Sandi & Bob Sadowski (Port Sheet Metal) as well as all our extended friends and family and all the generous people who have already donated to our cause and supported us we truly thank you. Without your support none of this would be possible. Jarred & Nadiia Sadowski As many of you may know, my wife Nadiia is from Ukraine moving to Massachusetts in 2018. While she is safe here in Newburyport all of her family and friends are living in her hometown, Nova Kahovka in Ukraine (40,000 people living in this city and much more if you include the surrounding villages). Since the first day of the war Feb 24th, her town and surrounding towns were occupied by the Russian military.

We first wanted to thank everyone who supports our cause. We also wanted to send a personal thank you to Daniel Healey for his support of Ukraine with his Dollar for Dollar matching contribution up to $100,000. Since his announcement on March 16th, 2022 we have been able to double the amount raised in just 4 days to $8500 thanks to his support! To date, including Daniel Healey’s matching donations, we have raised almost $40,000!!  To date we have made 3 separate transfers totaling $25,275 to our Ukrainian bank account. Since March 7th, we have purchased over $18,000 in food, essentials and medicines locally in Nova Kahovka, 90% of this has already been delivered to people in need. We have another $7000 in the country of which $6000 is likely to be spend in the next few days on our next bulk order of staple foods and vegetables. We have

Our Progress | March 17th 2022

Update: March 17, 2022  | Thank you all who have supported our efforts.  To date we have raised over $35,000.  We are continually transferring money from our US accounts, with the help of Newburyport Bank, to Nadiia’s Ukrainian bank account where we are directly distributing money to our volunteers so they can purchase food an essentials.   Today we have moved from our volunteers 400sq/ft two room apartment where we have been assembling food bags over the last 3 weeks to a larger storage space, capable of handling a larger volume of supplies and packaging.  This is a big step in increasing our distribution volume.   It has been mostly quite in the city over the last few days, although we have seen a steady increase in Russian Military, and still dangerous to drive around.  Russian military are requiring all vehicles to have all windows down, cellphones off and drive under 20

Newburyport Daily News An antique find helps a current cause in Ukraine   Jim Sullivan, The Daily News of Newburyport, Mass.Thu, March 17, 2022, 9:51 PM   Mar. 17—NEWBURYPORT — A fossilized tooth of a woolly mammoth will help the people of Ukraine after it was donated to the Custom House Maritime Museum on Wednesday. New England Fishmongers hauled up the woolly mammoth tooth off the coast of Plum Island in December and the Kittery, Maine-based company put the roughly 12,000-year-old fossil up for bid on eBay last week. The fishing company also pledged to donate all of its proceeds to World Central Kitchen, which provides hot meals to Ukrainian refugees affected by the recent Russian invasion of their country. Newburyport native and Merrimac resident Dan Healey had the winning, $10,300 bid for the fossil. The ARC Technologies founder decided to keep the charitable contributions going by donating the tooth to the

The Town Common To Ukraine With Loveby Stewart Lytle Wednesday March 16, 2022 NEWBURYPORT – Since the Russian tanks and soldiers moved into Ukraine, Nadiia and Jarrod Sadowski have been working around the clock to raise money to buy food and supplies for the needy and frightened residents of her hometown of Nova Kakhovka. “Since the first day of the war Feb 24th, her town and surrounding towns were occupied by the Russian military. They have been bombing surrounding towns and parts of her town. Some people have fled to other villages, but most have nowhere to go, and they are all running out of money, food and medicine,” Jarrod wrote last week. Nadiia starts making calls to Ukraine at midnight (7 a.m. in Ukraine) and works 20 hours a day, he said. She is coordinating efforts by volunteers, many of them her friends and family members, to deliver bags

Our Progress | March 14th 2022

Hi,  I first wanted to thank everyone for supporting our efforts to get food & essentials to those in need now.  To date, we have raised over $28,000 which is truly inspiring.  Since March 3rd Nadiia has been literally working around the clock to coordinate with our volunteers in Nova Kahovka in purchasing flour, grains, canned food, sugar, oil, tea, bread, vegetables & other essential items available. We have been focusing on creating donation bags of these items for each family that will last about 5-7 days.  Since March 7th we have gone from 3 people to over 10 local volunteers in Nova Kahovka, Ukraine helping to distribute food to those in need.  As the city remains occupied by the Russian Military there is a curfew from 6pm to 7am, when people are not allowed to be outside during this period. Starting at 6pm, once our volunteers return home from daily deliveries, they start to pack grocery bags to get ready

Newburyport Daily News Newburyport family with Ukraine ties seeks help   Dave Rogers, The Daily News of Newburyport, Mass.March 11, 2022   Mar. 11—NEWBURYPORT — Within hours of Russian forces invading Ukraine on Feb. 24, the family of Newburyport resident Nadiia Sadowski was living behind enemy lines. Since then, Nadiia has been on the phone for most of her waking hours obtaining information regarding the Russian occupation of Nova Kakhovka and relaying them to her loved ones, according to her husband, Jarred Sadowski. “On Day One, the Russian military came through her town,” Jarred said, during a recent interview with a Daily News reporter. Nova Kakhovka is located about an hour east of Kherson, one of the first southern Ukrainian cities to fall after Russian troops invaded from the annexed state of Crimea.   While Nadiia has been busy keeping in touch with her family, Jarred has been pumping funds into
